West Brom face missing out on £20m pay-day as Saido Berahino eyes lucrative free transfer next summer

Saido Berahino has set his sights on a money-spinning free transfer next summer leaving West Bromwich facing up to the prospect of missing of on £20million windfall.
The striker has told pals he is now determined to see out the final months of his contract and pursue a move abroad in January as the club continue to refuse to sanction his exit.
Berahino has made clear his intention to leave the Hawthorns this summer with Stoke and Crystal Palace making firm offers – understood to be in the region of £20million – for the striker.

But despite actively welcoming bids, West Brom are yet to accept any offers - leaving Berahino in limbo.
This is the third consecutive window West Brom have blocked Berahino's efforts to leave the club; and the striker has now accepted he will see out the final year of his deal.
Berahino has become so exasperated by the club's refusal to let him leave that he has told friends that he'll refuse to leave even if the Baggies finally accept an offer for him.

West Brom would stand to miss out on a hefty fee of around £20million with this stand-off

Indeed, sources have informed Sportsmail that the only way Berahino would be willing to leave this summer is if West Brom paid up the remainder of his £15,000-per-week deal, allowing him to depart on a free transfer.
Berahino's stance leaves the Baggies facing up to the prospect of missing out on a substantial pay-day.
This stand-off can only serve to disrupt the squad as West Brom attempt to find stability and improve on their 14th-placed finish last term.

The Baggies have always maintained they'd want Berahino's replacement signed before letting him go.
Tony Pulis' move for Southampton striker Jay Rodriguez could open the door to the Burundi-born forward leaving before Wednesday's transfer window.
Berahino has already turned down the club's attempts to tie him down to a new contract.
