Tottenham interested in signing Bayer Leverkusen set-piece specialist Hakan Calhanoglu

Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing set-piece specialist Hakan Calhanoglu from Bayer Leverkusen, but the attacking midfielder is keen to stay with the Bundesliga club.
The Turkish international has scored 21 goals in his two seasons at the BayArena, following a move from Hamburg in 2014, and has a reputation for the spectacular given his ability at set-pieces.
His agent, Bektas Demirtas, has revealed Tottenham's interest but insisted Calhanoglu is keen to stay with Bayer following a positive meeting with manager Roger Schmidt.

'It is true that Tottenham have registered their interest with me,' Demirtas told Express.
'Hakan wants to stay in Leverkusen. He had recently a very good conversation with Roger Schmidt. He knows that he must improve and is very ambitious.
'He wants to achieve together with Schmidt.'

Atletico Madrid are also said to have shown an interest in the Turk, but have not make a bid.

Despite being on the bench for his side's cup victory over Hauenstein at the weekend, Calhanoglu may play an increased role for Bayer following the injury suffered by former Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez.
The Mexican forward suffered a broken right hand after falling down the stairs, which could keep him sidelined for at least two weeks.
Like Tottenham, Leverkusen finished third in their domestic league last season and secured a spot in the Champions League group stage.
